AN 11.15X58mmR MODEL 1871 REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK SERVICE RIFLE, no visible serial number, made circa 1884, with 37in. barrel having a block and blade front-sight, rear-sight missing, the action stamped on the left with the Spanish royal crown over "AR. O. / 1886", regulation iron mounted full walnut two piece walnut stock, the forend with three barrel bands, the top band and with volley firing front-sight, the rifle is complete with its sling swivels and original rod. The rifle has much original finish to barrel, action and mounts, Spain manufactured the Remington Rolling Block under licence mainly at the Spanish government factory Fabrika de Arms de Oviedo which is where this example was made. Manufacture started in 1871 running through to 1893 producing approx. 350,000 arms including carbines.
